Default Do you name your deer stand?

    Sooner State Pawn
We used to just say, "My Stand", "Your Stand", "Dad's Stand", etc. But now that we have more stands than hunters, and we tend to move around more, it started to get confusing. So Tonight I got on google earth and renamed all our stands. We have: The Closet, The Four Seasons, The Shed, The Eagle's Nest, and The Deck. I wanted them to be simple and easy to remember so I used the characteristics so we would instantly know which one we were talking about.

The Closet: 4X4, barely any room, you can hardly maneuver.
The Four Seasons: Real house windows, insulated, carpet, propane heater, comfy chair, plenty of room for two, shelves galore, and coming soon: a pee tube.
The Shed: Small, simple stand, not very high, and regular silver colored tin on the outside, looks like a shed.
The Eagle's Nest: Our highest stand, ladder in a tree.
The Deck: Our newest, built the base bigger than the stand so there's a porch off the back, has actual stairs instead of a ladder, we joked that you just need a rocking chair and a whittling stick.

So, OSA, do you name your stands or hunting spots?

We have named a few. We don't use actual buildings but I have put up camo material the last few years to conceal some movement. I used to hunt right in the middle of three trees so that took that name but normally there is honeyhole, fenceline, three trees.

There isn't much I own that doesn't have a name. Some of them have been along the same lines as other's... Crow's Nest, Widowmaker, Damn Stand, and the crap wagon. Crap wagon is an old truck permanently parked out to pasture, we get in and roll the windows up. It is a doe killing machine.

Yes, usually obscure titles named after things such as the brand of beer bottle found at the stand location, the name of the oil company whose temporary lease sign was used years later, and several others. Half the fun of building huts is naming them. Once I get a B&C, I will sell naming rights to some vendor for a fee.

I just name mine by location. One is on the old school corner, the home place, the Cathy place, and the list goes on.

Where I hunt in Georgia, we have stands named: Turkey Creek, The Mansion, The Guest House, Buck Hut, Campground, Foodplot, Buddy Stand, The Tower, Toothless Tom's, and The Queer Hole! The last one is located in the far corner of the property and there is a "Rainbow Campground not far from it. It's the least hunted stand on the property!

name the area the stands are in rather than the stand it self.

My son and a bunch of guys have a lease of 2000 acres with 36 stands and all are named. Turkey Ridge, bridge, copperhead, oakflat, the bowl, end of slough, midway, fossil, cedar, keebler(huge tree), just to name a few.

    Named stands currently up:

    Old Faithful*
    East Corner*
    The Bowl
    Pond Stand
    Gate Stand
    West Ridge Ladder*
    West Ridge Baby Grand
    Top of the Ridge Stand
    Buddy Stand
    Dump Stand

*indicates (usually) productive stands that have been in one place for years. Others move a bit year-to-year. Several other locations are named but no stands are in them currently. Actually just about every location has a name - named after guys that hunted them years before my time, named after coffee pots stuck upside down on corner posts, etc.
Oh, it tasted so good though.
