I carry a TDI on a regular basis and agree with OP that it is a nice addition to your carry gear. Good reminder for those looking for a good knife.
Fixed blade knives are perfectly legal to carry. If an officer confiscates a fix blade knife, file a complaint. My guess is the officer was just enhancing his personal knife collection.
There are 3 types of fixed blades knives that are illegal.
1. A dagger. A dagger is a fixed blade knife with a dual edged blade.
2. A dirk knife. A dirk knife is a doubled edged Scottish dagger aka short sword. It has a cross guard. It is the off hand swords seen in the movie braveheart.
3. The Bowie knife. This is the one most people have an issue with. A bowie knife is a fixed blade knife with a cross guard. A knife with a cross guard is considered to be a fighting knife.
All other fixed blade knives are legal to carry reguardless of length. I have examples I show students in my classes. It allows them to understand the difference between a legal fixed blade knife and an illegal fixed blade knife with a cross guard. Tomorrow, I will snap a few pictures of my examples and post them here.

So, concealed or open? Does having a CCL make a difference like it does in transporting a loaded gun? For the record, my high school knife was a Bowie, and my Skinner had cross guard on it. I used to carry a folder in a sheath all the time growing up, simply because that was how we were raised. You always had a shotgun in your truck, knife on your belt, lighter and hanky in your pocket. And eventually you always needed all of them.

CA has laws against concealed carry of fixed blades, and thus I have always been of the mindset to open carry a fixed blade. Not sure if OK has a similar law........
My EDC: (Buck Vanguard)
I actually only carry this when I am wearing jeans/belt(which is most days). My other EDC is an assisted folder, and I carry it everyday no matter what(sweatpants, shorts, slacks, etc.). When I do carry the fixed blade, I generally put the folder in a weak side pocket(front or back), just in case I am unable to use my right hand(like the original post suggests).
I don't have a firearm carry permit(I am in CA afterall) so I can only carry at home/campsite and work(w/ permission), but when I do get one in OK, I will likely carry firearm/folder strong side, and fixed blade weak side.

Appreciate the instructional criticism.
The thread got at least two people who obviously had not seen the topic before in their own search of the sites content to go and consider applying the recommendation to their own carry gear, and if it helps just one person instead of being buried in the numerous pages of content that either the person didn't read themselves or it did not register to them, than I will consider it a success, whether I am viewed as lazy or not.
Again, thanks for all you do for our community. See you around the clubhouse.
