I like my 15-22 better than my 10-22.
15-22 is great. Very reliable, very accurate and will eat just about any ammo. Mags are easy to load with the thumb assist on the side. It functions just like an AR-15. The down side used to be the cost since they were twice the cost of a 10/22. However, at today's prices, you can probably own a 15-22 cheaper than you can buy and convert a 10/22 to look like a 15-22. Magazines are tough to find for both the 15-22 and 10/22. If I was buying today, I would buy the 15-22 with the threaded barrel so a suppressor could be added. Last price I heard was $469.99 at Academy with new shipments arriving every couple of days.

I've owned 10/22s for years now, and my Dad owns 597s in .22LR and .22WMR. The 597 is a decent rifle, but can't compete with the 10/22.

My dad owns a 597 with a 3x9 and I have a 10/22 with a Sweet 22 3x9. I shot better groups (30yds) with the Remington. On the other hand, you can modify the crap out of the 10/22. I also have a Marlin 60 a wood stock.
10/22 For accessories and Model 60 for simplicity.
In my experience, accuracy is a wash. Therefore, accuracy can be thrown out of the equation. In terms of reliability, the 10/22 wins hands down. As for handling, the 597 feels big and cumbersome, whereas the 10/22 is light and easy to manipulate. As mentioned above, aftermarket goodies abound for the 10/22. The 597 is a decent .22, but there are better options. And like I said, it just can't compete with the 10/22.

uhhh the 10/22
I own a 10-22 and have shot a 597 numerous times. The 597 never felt as good as the 10-22 both shot about the same in my hands. But the 10-22 seems to never get out of the safe, shoot the 510 remington the most, its a single shot bolt action. but if i had to sell off all my 22s tomorrow (except my great grandpas) and keep one would be the 10-22. parts, accessories, reliability, ect...
Anyone know where a 10/22 might be available at a decent price?

Just bought the last one (10/22) in oklahoma at sooner guns yesterday haha!
I had been going to dicks, academy, and bass pro every day asking of they had any, the employees began just shaking their heads NO when I walked in the store!
As far as 597 vs 10/22: both have advantages/disadvantages, personally I like them both a lot with a little edge on accuracy and performance going to the 597. Here is my 597 I just got put together last night (still have a few things left finish on her):
