    Default Anyone use aa2230?

I aquired some at H&H and was wondering if this is a clean burning powder. So far I know it is a fast burn powder from the load data off their website.

It meters very precisely out of my Hornady and is my go to powder for high volume 223 loading. I use it primarily with AR's so clean burning is sort of a relative term. I would not describe it as being a 'dirty' powder though.

The cleanest burning powder that I use for my .223 loads is Hodgdon Benchmark.

I figured it would meter well since its a ball powder. I didn't mean to make it sound like me asking if it burns with no residue just relatively ok where it won't foul up my guns.

I am loading this powder out if my dillon 650 press so it can be mass produced for my ARs.

I've loaded about 32 pounds of it in 223 for my menagerie.. Shoots well. Last couple of years I've been using milsurp powders, but the 2230 is my goto in commercial for bulk 223. I can get a little better accuracy with the Varget loads in my 223 bolt, but it may just be a quirk of that rifle. Blitzfike

Any load data would be appreciated with this powder and 55gn or 62gn bullets. I'm using federal 205 primers if it matters. Thanks

You can download the free AA manual from their site.

I found that AA2230 gave the best velocities out of 4 different powders that I tried in a 18" Satern barrel with a rolling thunder comp and it was by a decent margin faster. The closest to 2230 was BLC(2). That's my "backup" powder. Both group well with the best group going to BLC(2) but 2230 was right on it's heels. IMR 8208XBR got the best in consistency by a long shot (it's just insanely consistent) but the groups weren't any better. Not worse, just not better and the velocity was 200 FPS slower at max charge. I suspect it will do better with the heavier weight bullets but haven't worked any up. The moral to all of this is I just couldn't find a better powder for 55gr loads and I tried really hard.
