Cosmoline is a good sign..I can't say I really like it though...or the smell for that matter...it ain't like Hoppe's.

My first experience with a 'slow motion' bolt in a Mauser taught me that cosmoline is a liability in cold weather!

I like the smell, not the cleanup.

Just picked up a Mosin Nagant the other day from Sooner State Pawn South . So I will be smelling and cleaning my first ever.

A hand on the gun is better than a cop on the phone! That's great. I'm gonna remember that.

The yugo cosmoline is a real pain in the butt. It seems thicker than any other i've encountered.

The Indian or Paki Enfields had some kind of preservative that turned hard as a rock in some places.

I had to take the trigger grouping and barrel to a car wash to get it all out.

I must have had my Yugo SKS stock in and out of my over 20 or so times. It would not stop beading up on the surface. I think I got most of it. I guess we'll see when I take it to the range.

It may never stop doing that.

I have some rifles that were so permeated with cosmoline, that I just keep a rag on the shooting bench and wipe it down from time to time whenever I shoot it.

I like to think of it as "quaint."

My VZ24 used to sweat out cosmoline every time I went shooting. I really miss it . Keep the cosmoline and cherish it while you can. Eventually it will stop sweating
