    Default The Mossberg 715P Duck Commander Pistol?

    http://www.mossberg.com/product/duck...ommander/37237

    Wonder how this compares to a S&W 15-22P in a head to head comparison?

    Friends don't let friends buy Mossbergs... My buddies 715 has an out-of-battery discharge a few times in a bulk pack range trip.

    The Mossberg 715t could be the worst gun I have ever experienced.

    Default I disagree, my Mossberg 702 Plinkster has been a great performer.

    I disagree, my Mossberg 702 Plinkster has been a great performer.

    I bought it on sale on a whim at Wal-Mart for $109.00,,,
    I've been shooting it for almost three years now,,,
    With decent ammo it's been very dependable.

    A friend who hates semi's bought their bolt action 802 Plinkster,,,
    He consistently shoots 2" groups at 100 yards with it,,,
    That's with match grade ammo but still,,,
    That's good for an inexpensive rifle.

    I'm not saying you are wrong,,,
    I'm just saying that's not been my experience at all.

    I know Old Mossberg and New Mossberg are not the same thing at all,,,
    But I inherited a 1950-60's vintage Model 340KC bolt action,,,
    It drops 1" groups at 100 yards all day long.

    I'm on board with Aarond. We have two 702 plinksters that are very accurate and will eat just about any ammo we put in them as long as they are kept clean.

    I've lost count as to how many small game animals we've taken with these two rifles alone.

    they're not the prettiest, or are the best built semi-auto 22's out there - but I just can't say anything bad about them. We've put thousands and thousands of rounds through them with great success.

    Of course, they are a different animal than the abomination that this thread is about - what a waste of metal and plastic THAT thing is.

    If you've got a good barrel, it's hard to make a bad shooting .22. Now that's not to say that all the components surrounding the barrel might not give you fits. I've had a bunch of .22's in my life and I've yet to run across one that couldn't shoot as good as me. However, the newer the gun, the more likely it is to have a malfunctioning part. Cheap is cheap.

    There are good Remington's and bad Remington's;
    There are good Mossberg's and bad Mossberg's'
    There are good Savage's and bad Savages;
    Ther.... Think you can see where I am going with this.

    This for sure.
    The 715t and the 702 are different guns.
    I've tried several 715's and they all have been unreliable and not accurate at all. Even with high quality scopes.
    The S&W mp22, sig 22, and the colt version have all been satisfactory.

    715's are terrible. Mossberg has a long history of making some good, reliable guns, but this one ain't it.

    Mossberg does have a history of interesting, yet poorly executed ideas when it comes to their commercial rifle production as opposed to their great reputation when it comes to producing shotguns. I guess I am skeptically curious about the "Duck Commander" 715P.

    The $447 MSRP seems excessive and a bit absurd for something that is essentially just a range/plinking toy to burn cheap(used to be, at least) ammo through. They could have at least put a Bushnell Red Dot on it at that price. Drop that MSRP down by at least $100.00 and this might be worthwhile, otherwise I think I'll pass.

    It really is a shame that S&W stopped making the 15-22P. The 15-22P has a reputation of being a high quality, accurate option for a rimfire range toy pistol.
