How can any reasonable person think that allowing a person to fight for our company but not drink or buy a handgun is logical. Change the law and let kids grow up.

Here's a little secret, a lot of kids drink because they aren't supposed to.

Please tell me that's not intentional. Tell me spell check substituted that for "country". It sounds very liberal.

When I was in my late teens I looked around at all my friends, all the classmates I ever knew, looked at myself and thought "No way should any of us be allowed to drink or vote". I'm 50 now and still feel the same way... more so, actually. Legal age to drink and vote should be raised to 25.

My father was an abusive alcoholic. My mother and I received our fair share of beatings after his trips to the bar. After graduating high school, I went into the Air Force and saw more than my fair share of drunks and future alcoholics. After military service I spent the next 30 years in emergency services and have helped cut drunks and their victims of all ages out of their cars and scraped their pieces up off the roadways. Helping load booze smelling bodies in the Medical Examiners in the vans were part of the job too. Do a Google on Joffa Kerr. She was one of the drunks I was subpoenaed to testify against after her little accident.

The Feds don't; the States do. The Feds just tell the States that it would be in their best interests to set it at 21.

And, for some reason, the Supreme Court thinks this is A-okay.

That's not correct. The feds bully the states into going along with what they dictate by threatening to withhold highway grants.

Edit: 348 beat me to it. ^^^^^

<sigh> I was hoping the fact that I put it in italics would make it clear that I was saying it in the same tone a mobster uses to a shopkeeper as to why it's in his best interest to come up with the monthly protection money.

Yeah, that's the way it went..

BTW for the OP, When I was a kid in HS, Ok was 21, but Ks was 18 to drink. I had grooves worn into the asphalt with the number of times I went to Arkansas City Ks to party on the weekends. Most of the places only wanted your money, so they didn't check ID's very close if at all.

Bought my first beer in a bar at 16. Not my first Drink though.

When I was 14-17 I was a ranch hand in Osage county during round-up. A.W. Morrison that owned well over a million acres in Tx, Ok, and Nebraska as well as two casino's in Vegas would always show up during spring roundup. The ranches are vast, with 50-60 thousand acres being the norm.
He would stay in the bunkhouse with the cowboys, like one of us, and if it was raining, and we couldn't get out, or after hours at a poker game, he always said if your old enough to work daylight to dark like a man, your old enough to share my whisky. Share we did. :D

God, I miss those days.

Dennis, that story shows the kind of spirit that made this a great country. Sadly it is being destroyed by ballsified busybodies who all know what is best for other people's lives... and the hired muscle that is willing to do their bidding.
