    Default Scope Suggestions

    Sooner State Pawn
I am trying to decide what scope to put on a Ruger Hawkeye .375. The max shot witht his gun will most likely be no more than 300 yards. I don't want to spend a $1000 dollars on a scope either. So lets here what yalls opinions are. Thanks

    What is your price range?

I haven't really set a price range yet, i'm probably going to try and stay in the $250-$300 range, but I may end up going higher. I think that durability should be high on the list, but thats all I know.

Leupold VX-III 1.75-6 would be hard to beat.

Also, look at the Bushnell Elite 3200's. They are in the $300 range. Rather nice scopes.

Leupold VXII 3-9x40 299$ and free shipping from Cabela's. You said durability, well there you go.

If you don't want to spend that much the VXI line 200$ish has proven very durable in my experience. I have three of the VXI's, all with alot of use and excellent performance, but I would spring for the VXII if possible.

In the price range you listed, you can't beat a Burris Fullfield II. Not with a VXII either. I've had both, the Burris has much better glass than the VXII. I'd more compare them to the VXIIIs I've played with.

Lifetime Warranty and made in America I believe.

The Burris Fullfield II is a good scope for a cheap price. They are not US made. The one on my son's rifle is from the PI. Your not going to get a decent American made scope for $200-300.

+1 - I've noticed this as well on my $120 Burris Spotting scope - it looks at least as good if not better than a friend's Leupold Spotting scope (model they sell at Academy). I'm super impressed with the clarity of Burris optics.

I was going to recommend this one or a VxIII 1.5-5.

I have a monarch a fullfield II and VX I,II and III the overall quality goes to leupold hands down. The burris foreign QC is better than nikon IMO. They are both made in the Phillippines.

Thanks for the info on the country of origin. They do have a lifetime warranty though. I love my fullfields. between my dad and me, we have 4 of the 3-9x40s and love them.
