So what in the shoot-fire is wrong with the sunflower plants this year?

So I go out to where I dove hunted last year. No doves. Hmmmm. Maybe it's a food problem. Look around. Thousands of sunflower plants. NO blooms. The flowers are still tiny unopened buds.

Look around - find fully blooming sunflowers in OTHER parts of central OK.

What on earth would make them be a month or so BEHIND their normal schedule just in one location? Especially with all the great rain we've had?

Bizarre.

they are doing good in my area. Got my pic taken by a trail camera I'd put out a couple of years ago. The sunflowers are in full bloom right now. it might be a week or two before the seeds fully develop. Normally they are pretty dried up by this time of year.
I was in this same field today doing a little disking to create some dove areas:D

Weird summer weather. Hot early on, then cooled down and got a lot of rain. Everything in the garden was way behind except for the corn, probably the same for the sunflowers.
