I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's hogwash. Turkey is a NATO member; I'm pretty sure they have treaty obligations that would prevent them from closing the Bosporous to NATO vessels--and I'm pretty sure that our/the EU's leverage over Turkey is far greater than anything the Chicoms can offer.
ETA: China doesn't have to do squat in the UN--the Ruskies have veto power of their own. The Chinese have nothing to gain from taking a public stance on this, and they're not particularly fond of either side, so it's in their interests to stay on the sidelines for this one.

It's pretty simple, someone stuck their nose where it didn't belong and is now getting the shaft. What goes around comes around and eventually bites you in the @ss
Whether it is true or not it doesn't matter. The debt they hold isn't backed by gold it's nothing more than a paper IOU. If they want to start something that will devalue our fiat currency the only thing that happens is the value of their holdings drop.
