I make almost all of my purchases (except fast food) with a credit card,,, I always ask for a receipt as I keep a "register" just like a checkbook. It's a rare thing for any extra charges to be made,,, Like in 26 years with this card,,, It's happened twice. But I also pay my card off each and every week,,, My entire budget is weekly based,,, It's just easier for me. At my part-time job the Point of Sale (POS) register/computer,,, Only prints out receipts for credit card purchases,,, I have no way of printing a receipt for cash. What I'm supposed to do when someone demands a paper receipt,,, Which by the way is required by law if they actually ask for one,,, Is get their e-mail address and "add" them into the POS,,, Then it will e-mail them a receipt. I finally went to Staples and bought a pad of paper receipts ala 1950's,,, I just stamp the store name on it and write an amount. The owner doesn't like it but it takes way too long to do the "add a customer" thing,,, Invariably it also only happens when I have a line of customers waiting. The owner says it would cost too much to get a printer for cash sales,,, I think she just doesn't want to deal with the problem. I can dig it,,, It's a Ma & Pa small business,,, And the owner is a sweetheart of a person,,, But it sure is a pain in the patootie for all of us clerks. I'm the only "old fart" there besides the owner who is 10 years my senior,,, The rest of the clerks are all young millennials,,, Who can't count change on their own. I'm putting every penny of my paychecks towards my new car loan,,, The moment I have it paid off I'm turning in my key,,, And going back to being a retired loafer. Aarond .
