I hate to be blatantly honest - but how "useful" do you want to be about useless cartridge?

Ballistically it's identical to 243 Win - yes it can move same weight projectile at the same speed, BUT:
- it burn 25% powder to do it
- 243 bullet of the same weight will have higher BC - therefore deliver more energy at flatter trajectory.
And I'm not even comparing to ultra-efficient modern 6XC or 6.5x47, but to a varmint round made in 1955 (poorly at that).

There is nothing wrong with .25cal per se, but after building a .277 myself, I can tell you that odd ball (or mid-step) calibers are fun only during the build itself - once you get working rifle in your hands it dawns on you: what a waste of time!

Of course, if 25 has to be, you could build a very sensible Oklahoma deer rifle in 250 Savage, but then we wouldn't be here talking about it, would we ;)

Should be OK.

Have spent lotsa time behind a .25-06 Imp, and it's a lot of fun.

Ballistically, your .25-284 should be almost identical to a .25-06.

My current .25 is a .257WeatherbyMag.

Have you tried Sharp Shooter Supply? They don't list .25-.284 but they might make one for you. I would just get a .257 Weatherby but I ain't you.

Really? 6.5 Creedmoor? Not 6.5x55 or 6.5-284 or 260Rem or 6.5x47 that Lapua does make brass for, but Creedmoor ...
Yes, Credmoor. The reason was I was planning on building it off an AR10 platform. Since that is now out the window, I'm leaning more toward .260 Rem or 6.5X55. Either would more than.suit my purpose.

its obvious you have never used a 25-284 (or a 25-06). there is a great difference in knocking over a bottle with a good bullet and just obliterating that same bottle using the same bullet but at a much faster velocity.
