Like I stated, incredibly short sighted and no memory of recent events whatsoever. As someone who's followed this entire fiacso very closely since the story broke, the anecdotal and circumstantial evidence that this was a politically motivated, or at the very least a politically expedient operation is overwhelming. Based on everything that's been revealed to paint a complete picture (or incomplete as it stands to date), there's definitely a smoking gun somewhere. Holder and the Obama administration are doing EXACTLY what Nixon did during the Watergate scandal, trying desperately to keep the lid on it. The only real question is whether they'll be more successful than Tricky Dick or not. :( I should further point out that much of the wrangling between Congress and Holder isn’t about what happened, but who knew what and when. The DoJ has pretty much admitted that they violated the sovereignty of a neighboring nation, that they were complicit in smuggling arms across the border in the furtherance of criminal enterprise (and what should be classified as terrorism), and that they had no mechanisms in place to capture or arrest anyone. All we’re hashing out now is who knew about it when it was happening and what the DoJ has done (or hasn’t done) in holding anyone accountable. We’ve had one single person resign over this, one person fired (who was a whistleblower, not a conspirator) and no one suspended. Remember that the DoJ NEVER admitted wrongdoing until they were outed by the fired whistleblower. That pretty much says all we need to know about what Holder’s intentions are now that they’ve been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
