At my school we had a janitor (now retired) that was a competive shooter and auxiliary LEO. I think such an employee would be ideal as responder to a shooter on campus for variety of reasons. I know of at least one current faculty member that is CLEET certified. As for me, a veteran teacher, It was an Active Shooter drill several years ago that brought me here. After that drill I was so distressed at how helpless I felt that I decided to learn what I could. That led to me taking up shooting again, finding this forum, me and my wife obtaining ccl, getting some training like TDSA combat pistol, and learning as much as I can on my own. I would gladly take whatever training necessary to meet the requirements to protect myself faculty and students. But, is CLEET necessary? I don't want to be part time Leo on campus. I want to know how to effectively handle an immediate threat on our campus. I doubt defensive driving or arrest processing procedures would be a valuable use of my time. Teaching keeps me pretty busy.
