Yeah I'm tired of it. I'm just of a different viewpoint on the cause and effect. Last night I watched an elderly man (70's) get pushed by a cop in full riot gear, hard enough that he fell back, smacked his head on the concrete so hard the sound was sickening and instantly, blood started pouring out of his ear. No the man was not rioting or being violent, he was just in the way of what the cops wanted to do. No one behind him was being violent either. The first person they arrested was a man who tried to come to his aid. Fortunately, they couldn't arrest the National Guard troops who jumped in to provide 1st aid. That man is in the hospital, most likely with a TBI. The PD’s response? “He tripped” The night before I watched Austin PD riot cops shoot a teenager in the head with a less-lethal projectile (against policy). He crumpled to the ground instantly, and is in critical condition in the hospital. His crime? Standing on a hill across the street, all alone, doing absolutely nothing except watching the protests. The night before that I watched cops pepper ball a car being driven by a man taking his pregnant wife to the hospital because she was in labor. When he tried to explain his situation to them, they pepper balled him. My point is nothing has been settled yet. The cops aren't taking responsibility for their actions. The agencies aren't taking responsibility for their actions. The civilian authorities aren’t taking responsibility for it and the various legislatures aren’t either. Each and every day since these events kicked off, cops have been committing outright violent crimes. Chasing down cyclists to beat them. Dragging them behind buildings for a beat-down away from the cameras (didn’t work), shooting non-violent protesters in the face with rubber bullets, and on and on ad nauseam. There are agitators and criminals in these events that deserve arrest and in some cases, a bit of the old hickory shampoo. But the aggression many riot officers are visiting on peaceful protesters for perpetrating the heinous crime of civil disobedience is startling. In many cases, the cops are the ones starting the riots! I can’t abide by this. I can’t reconcile it with my 30+ years of training and public service. It’s offensive to me on a deep level. The media also isn’t reporting how many officers are resigning. The good cops can’t get anywhere against the hardcore authoritarians in their ranks, so they’re leaving. That will objectively make those departments worse, not better. This isn’t a race issue regardless of what the media is pushing. This is a dystopian statist nightmare that is being revealed to affect anyone who stands in their way. That means us as much as them. Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago we were protesting the murder of Duncan Lemp in his home? What about all those 2nd Amendment protests? Were we just concerned with our cherished gun rights and to hell with the rest of them? Well imagine this. Take all those thousands and tens of thousands of 2nd Amendment protesters who marched with arms and equipment on state capitols, and apply them to these protests. Think all those looters and rioters would loot and riot with ten thousand armed patriots on every street corner and sidewalk? Think all these cops in riot gear would be beating and shooting PEACEFUL protesters with less-lethal munitions if half the crowd had arms and equipment equal to or superior to theirs? This could be the Battle of Athens in our time. This could be the turning point where we take back our authority as We the People. Because you can damned sure bet these same officers beating and shooting people for the crime of disrespecting their authority, will be the same ones kicking your doors in the middle of the night to take your arms. Just think about it…
