I seriously doubt you will ever even see the coyotes anyway. They are as scared of you as you are of them. They have plenty of other menu choices without having to eat you, your dog or his food. That is simply not correct. Coyotes are wary, but not really afraid of man. I personally have seen them in the Los Angeles City limits. Residents in many areas around Phoenix (Sun City, Peoria for two) don't let small pets out at night and watch them closely even in the daytime. Last year I was parked at an RV park in Peoria in an area with about 1 million people with a 10 mile circle and saw coyotes walking down the park streets at night(looking for the rabbits the residents fed in the daytime) Their main source of food is rabbit, but they are quite opportunistic and will kill any animal below about 5 pounds. They are not known for raiding trash cans however. Yorkies are a good substitute for rabbits. To avoid conflicts with the police, I would get a good pellet gun. Some are more powerful than the subsonic .22 loads. They do make noise, but it doesn't sound like a gun. I would still be sneaky as I believe they are still classified as a firearm. Someone check me on that. ljg
