I'm willing to bet there are other, more recent verses that claim that right for the lord.

but hey, if we are going all old testament then we really need to make a list of people to start stoning

I did use a quote from an earlier book(Genisis), part of the old testament. I recall there being another verse in the New testament supporting capital punishment. I'd have to look it up.

oh, and you did fail to mention which God you are referring to here.
The only God, the Abrahamic God. The God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims. The God that gave us our rights and under whose name our nation was established and grounded.

The only God, the Abrahamic God. The God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims. The God that gave us our rights and under whose name our nation was established and grounded.

Really? I must have missed the reference to her in our founding documents. Can you point me to where she is explicitly mentioned by the founders?

IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

I'm sorry, could you please be more specific about which God they are referencing? No doubt there is a call to a high power, but which one is a bit vague here
