Many Republicans/Conservatives are straight up morons when it comes to this subject. One of many issues that gets someone like Obama elected.

Texas has highest maternal mortality rate in developed world, study finds
As the Republican-led state legislature has slashed funding to reproductive healthcare clinics, the maternal mortality rate doubled over just a two-year period

About half of Texas lacks ready access to OB-GYN care, making it difficult for women to obtain contraception or for pregnant women to confirm the health of their babies.

Saturday 20 August 2016

The rate of Texas women who died from complications related to their pregnancy doubled from 2010 to 2014, a new study has found, for an estimated maternal mortality rate that is unmatched in any other state and the rest of the developed world.

The finding comes from a report, appearing in the September issue of the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology

Two ways to look at this.

One ... If Planned Parenthood would separate their renenue driving abortion mills from the modicum of good they do at their so-called "reproductive healthcare clinics" there would likely be funding.

Two ... That the alleged high mortality rate is probably still less than the babies PP kills everyday. This is just another example of how the herd can be thinned.

Darwin FTW.

USA is only ahead of Mexico for maternal mortality or pretty piss poor! ... most don't know that maternal deaths within 1 year of pregnancy actually occur during or very soon after pregnancy. which is when pregnant women need help the most and exactly what's been taken away by morons in Texas and not for a lack of trying by yet more morons in Oklahoma.

=============

discussion from the article:

Despite the United Nations Millennium Development Goal for a 75% reduction in maternal mortality from 1990 to 2015, the reported (unadjusted) U.S. maternal mortality rate more than doubled from 2000 to 2014. As we have shown, most of the reported increase in maternal mortality rates from 2000 to 2014 was the result of improved ascertainment of maternal deaths. However, combined data for 48 states and the District of Columbia showed an increase in the estimated maternal mortality rate from 18.8 in 2000 to 23.8 in 2014, a 26.6% increase. Notably, the smaller increase seen in the adjusted data appears to be a result of earlier estimates of the U.S. national rate being substantially underreported. Clearly at a time when the World Health Organization reports that 157 of 183 countries studied had decreases in maternal mortality between 2000 and 2013,21 the U.S. maternal mortality rate is moving in the wrong direction. Among 31 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries reporting maternal mortality data, the United States would rank 30th, ahead of only Mexico.

The Texas data are puzzling in that they show a modest increase in maternal mortality from 2000 to 2010 (slope 0.12) followed by a doubling within a 2- year period in the reported maternal mortality rate. In 2006, Texas revised its death certificate, including the addition of the U.S. standard pregnancy question, and also implemented an electronic death certificate. However, the 2006 changes did not appreciably affect the maternal mortality trend after adjustment, and the doubling in the rate occurred in 2011–2012.

First a point of clarification … Who are the “morons”? The people getting dead or the ones that are not wanting to fund abortion mills?

Suggestion … Maybe you should go to Texas and pass out orange Trump condoms? Nip the pregnancy in the bud. That way they would not need incremental funding for abortions or even instructions on how to safely download babies. I would highly recommend Houston’s Third Ward for a start. Charming area.

And … don’t call the indigenous population “trolls”.

For your reading enjoyment. I didn't check if there was a coupon for tin foil attached.

in 2011 women's health clinic funding was cut by 2/3 from 2010 levels and since then 82 clinics have closed which primarily served low income and rural regions according to npr.

https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/4yoo9g/texas_has_highest_maternal_mortality_rate_in/

The numbers are harsh. In Texas, just 22 percent of childbearing-age women who qualify for subsidized preventive health care treatment actually get it.

The latest family planning predicament began in 2011 when the Republican-dominated Legislature decided it was done, once and for all, funding Planned Parenthood. It eliminated funding for any clinic associated with an abortion provider even if the clinic itself didn't perform abortions. In the process, the Legislature ended up slashing the state's family planning budget by two-thirds.

"And that turned everything on its head," says Dr. Moss Hampton, a district chairman for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a professor at the University Health Sciences Center in Midland.

Hampton says the Legislature's target was abortion, but the unintended consequence was that family planning clinics that had nothing to do with abortion, especially rural clinics, ran out of money.

I should make a youtube video, "When Murder was Illegal". It will be a biography of a famous killer for hire who had a difficult time killing his quarry because it was illegal.

Let history repeat itself. Unless you're raped or molested, you probably put yourself in that situation. Take responsibility for your own sex life and don't take that as an excuse to murder kids who can't defend themselves.
