The issue here is that no one is buying the viability of this approach. The only time it got close was a 100% independent, who happened to be a billionaire who had supporters because of competing business interests (Perot).

Using a lame duck POTUS candidate who doesn't even really represent your party very well to effect down ballot access, is like putting the cart before the horse. They need to focus on developing local party Infrastructure first. The only way to do that is gaining both grass roots volunteers, AND business world support.
Nobody represents parties well because political ideology in society has changed and the parties are scrambling to change with it. That is, saying somebody is 'republican' or 'democrat' or 'libertarian' or 'socialist' provides very little information about the person's values, stances, ideology, and etc. Those categorical labels are relatively worthless. Top-down change is typically more difficult than bottom-up, but it can happen. In fact, it already is happening...not enough to win the presidency, but enough to motivate people to engage and effect change from the bottom-up (i.e., working it from both ends).

Hillary has had her hand in the honey pot for 30 years and if she couldn't make a living in 30 years she don't need to get back in the political arena. She's gotten rich off the taxpayer snd wants more? Based on what she's said she'll continue Obama's policies and dismal failures....solar panels? Obama tried that and wasted millions of dollars and we don't have a dang thing to show for all the millions and billions he's squandered-and she wants to squander more.

When it comes to ballot access, it must be attacked from both directions. Most states have requirements that a candidate win X% in a Presidential or Gubernatorial election. But to get to the point of contending in those races, you need to contend in down ballot races.

There's a good possibility that Johnson could have barely made the 15% threshold for the debates had the 18-34 group not been excluded in some polls. (Pollsters claim they only called landlines.)

I agree with all of you, both candidates won but not to a biggly extent. Where Trump picked up that word is beyond me but his demeanor, language failings etc do not outweigh Hillary's corruption and thieving of our tax dollars. But it's not just Hillary, it's Kerry funneling taxpayer's millions into his daughter's charity and who know how much Obama has scarfed up from the billions that have passed through his clammy hands. They're all crooks, all politicians!!
And that is why we need term limits, to keep the politicians somewhat honest otherwise they come out millionaires and we end up paupers.

I went in desperately wanting trump to give me a reason to vote for him. He came across unqualified and I thought Hillary owned him. He had a few good moments but had a lot of missed opportunities.

For the record I am not nor ever will vote for Hillary. As has been stated, the true losers of this debate is the American people.
