This is not as important as the lives and personal property lost in the recent storms, but the tornado that struck Lake Thunderbird yesterday literally passed right over my favorite fishing spot. To get there, I have to drive right past the Thunderbird Marina that was destroyed. It was a weird feeling watching the live shots yesterday, because I was there just a few hours earlier. Yesterday evening, I drove out to check on the area and they had set up a road block in front of the park office. There was heavy damage with very large branches scattered around the area and the roof to what I believe was the wildlife viewing stand laying in the parking lot. It was a really odd feeling seeing everything with that much damage because I had been to that particular area so frequently in the past few weeks for fishing and deer watching with my wife. My crappie season is over. Just didn't expect it to occur so abruptly.
