Does it state any where what model it is?? H&R made a ton of 9 shots....model numbers usually started with a "9".

    Example:
H&R model 829 (.22 LR nine shot revolver) Swingout 9-shot cylinder, double or single action)
H&R model 922 (.22 LR nine shot revolver)
H&R model 923 (.22 LR nine shot revolver)
H&R model 926 (.22 WRF nine shot revolver)
H&R model 929 (.22 LR nine shot revolver, blued finish)
H&R model 930 (.22 LR & nine shot revolver, nickel finish)
H&R model 933 (.22 LR nine shot revolver, manufactured 1930–1939. Formally known as the "Hunter" model)
    H&R model 939 Ultra Sidekick (.22 LR double-action revolver) Introduced in 1956.[9]
H&R model 949 (.22 LR nine shot revolver)
H&R model 999 (.22 WRF nine shot revolver)
H&R model Hunter (.22 LR nine shot revolver, Manufactured in 1929. From 1930–1939 this model was listed as Model 933)

*** Out of pure speculation and guessing, I'm gonna GUESS pre-50's.....1940's or later.

That isnt' a 999, they were break open models and shot WRF.

That one has looks more like a 929 6" but I'm no expert. I have owned one though.

With an S prefix on the serial number that would put it at 1956.

Great little guns. Value is about $150-$200 or maybe just a bit more if you find the right buyer.

looks like a 922 with the pull pin for cylinder removal. the swing out cylinder model was 15 bucks more when i bought mine brand new. the satin stainless finish was only 5 bucks more. i just didn't have the money to get the swing out and got the satin finish. damn fine utilitarian pistols

That could be a 922 if it's a pull pin. I think the 929's were all swing open.

In either case, with a letter prefix it's a post 1940 gun and they used one letter per year (skipping O and Q) so that's how I got 1956.

If it is a 922 instead of a 929, the value might be a little less.

    Cool forum Old Fart!

I love the little H&R revolvers... sometimes you can pick them up really cheap and they're a fine little gun.
