As of now, my Savage Mark II bolt action .22. Standard velocity .22 rimfire ammo is under supersonic 99% of the time. The rifle is small and handy but sometimes I would like a full size .22 rimfire bolt action closer to a CF rifle size.
Just remember on the 66 the barrel is held in by one screw to the receiver. Putting scope or red dot on receiver is basically worthless. I have one my Dad bought me when I was 14 (I'm 71 now) still have it but it would throw rounds every where with the scope. Dad was so pissed at it he bought me a Browning A5. I took scope off and that rifle is so accurate with open sights. Killed hundreds if not thousands of squirrels with it with open sights. You can take hold of the barrel and move it around in the receiver.
The frame and slide are the same color on mine. I ripped that photo off the internet as I was too lazy to get mine from the safe and take a pic.
