I'm taking it woman's watches (except maybe for those really high-end real diamond and gold stuff) but a typical, say $200 new watch, that would be comparable to a man's of about the same style - the women's don't seem to hold the value very well, do they?

No they don’t for the most part. Been wanting to get my wife a Seamaster but they can still be spendy. More common stuff like bulova and citizen can be had at really good deals. Heck some cool vintage Seikos can be had for less than $20 on fleabay
