Search Silencertests. There are a bunch of threads about it.

It would be one of the last 5.56 cans that I would consider; behind AAC, KAC, SWR, and Surefire.

Rob

+1 The MultiMount 9mm and the Sandstorm .308/300 are the only cans I would consider out of the ones they are offering to pay the tax on. Also if you're a member of www.silencerresearch.com you can watch and hear the MultiMount being shot.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

We have MultiMounts in stock (but they're going FAST!) and Sandstorms will be here very soon!

I own an HVT but laid my hands on a Sandstorm yesterday... OMG there is a huge weight difference! To bad they don't make the Sandstorm in a QD configuration!

Edit:
While browsing the Gemtech page I found this..

Now where am I going to find the money to buy one of these!?

Forgive the noob question but what are the disadvantages of running smaller caliber rounds through something like the sandstorm. I don't yet have anything 7.62 but would like to take advantage of this "Tax Free" savings and use this can on other host like my 5.56 AR?

My 2 Cts.

As long as you dont over pressure the can (like shooting a rifle round out of a pistol can) You should be fine shooting smaller calibers out of a can. Generally larger caliber cans are also have larger volumes so the perform pretty well considering.

Silencerresearch showed several 308 cans shooting 5.56 through them and some where quiter than some cans made for the 5.56. I emailed John Titsworth about the Sandstorm and while he has not done a formal review of it he stated it ranks right at the top of the available .30 cal cans. If I didn't have 3 cans in the process now I would jump on the Sandstorm deal.
