Full auto firearms get a lot of use. I have considered buying a FA. All the FA guns are used, no new made since the 80s.
I am concerned about wear. I don't want to get stuck with a worn out gun.
What is your experience? Interested in M16 or MP5SD.
Any idea on prices?

Why don't you just build yourself an M16? Wouldn't the form 1 cover this since you would be the maker. I know you can get the full auto trigger group on GB for around $100.00. That way you would know ALL about the rifle. Someone will have more information than me than though.

No No No Guys!!!!!

YOU CAN NOT FORM 1 a full auto GUN! If it was not made and transferable before may 19th 86' (Thanks Firecop) then it can not be owned by an individual.

full auto Registered receiver AR15 conversions can be had for as little as 9K if you really shop around

A big +1

If you buy a built and registered rifle. Why can't you build your own?

I believe that there is a moratorium on civilians owning new FA. You have to buy a registered sear and trigger pack, etc..... That is why they are sooooo expensive, otherwise people would do what you are suggesting. It is not the lack of knowledge, rather the legalities of it.

To the OP, FA parts are what are registered, and replacement parts are available, or repairs to the serialized parts can be done. Pre 86 parts are what are registered. There are some other ways to own new FA, but involve FFL licensing, and working with PD to get samples for them.

They are high dollar, $15K is about the going price for a M16, you can get into a MAC 11 for around $3K though.

Got it. I learned something here. Thanks fellas. Well NRAMAN, I guess we both learned a little something tonight.

Live and learn, I think what happens with those dealers that have the new FA, is that they are licensed to manufacture them, but are not allowed to sell them unless it is military/LE, but are allowed to rent them.
That's just an opinion.
