I'm already registering one of my ARs as a SBR. My question is, if I get a full auto lower, would I have to pay an extra $200 to SBR it too, or is it ok to put a SB on a registered Auto lower?

Machineguns have no barrel restrictions, so you would not need to SBR it also.

Awesome. Thanks!

No problem. Just to get you motivated, here is my 12.5" M-16.

Just make sure it's a registered FA Lower & not a RDIAS of LL.
If it's a RDIAS or Lightning Link, you'll have to register the lower for an SBR.

If you dedicate one receiver as a host and keep the RLL or the RDIAS in the host at all times, you do not need to register the host receiver as an SBR as the host becomes the machinegun when the RLL/RDIAS is installed. If you plan on moving the RLL/RDIAS between different receivers, then yes, you would need to register the receiver that still has the short barrel as an SBR. One more thing to remember with the RDIAS is that you cannot leave the M-16 fire control group (FCG) parts in the receiver when you swap the RDIAS over to another receiver. The FCG parts need to move with the RDIAS. This is not an issue with the RLL as it works with the semi-auto FCG parts.

What made you decide on a 12.5?

Usually you see SBR's in a 14.5, 11.5, 10.5 or a 7.5 configuration.

In my opinion, the 14.5" is fine, but I wanted to go shorter. The 7.5" and 10.5" are really hard on suppressors, so I wanted to go 11.5" or 12.5". I finally picked the 12.5" due to increased velocity, more dwell time and easier on the suppressor than the 11.5" while only giving up 1" in length. I also went with the fixed stock because to me they just seem so much smoother in full-auto operation than any of the collapsible stocks (and I have tried plently of those).

Well, I think if I go full auto, I'm going with a receiver, that way I won't have to SBR any other rifles, and then I can just swap any upper onto the FA lower.

I'm going with the 11.5" with an AAC M4-2000 with the brake style QD to be a little more gentle with the supressor. Approximately what would be the difference in velocity with 12.5 vs. 11.5?
