geting a AA upper in 6.5 grendel, the hunter version 19.5". i want to put a suppresser on it. i dont know much about the suppressers so i thought i would ask on here. the barrel is threaded for 3/4-28tpi. the only flash hider i found that would fit was the ones on the AA website. do they make suppressers for that thread? or better yet do they make flash hiders for that thread that suppressers can just screw on to? will puting a suppresser on mess up my rifiling or barrel in anyway? do i need to get a certin gas block? thanks for the help

Dang, that thread pattern is going to kill you on choices. I'd probably get it re-threaded in 5/8-24, the standard 308 thread.

I would thread 5/8-24 and get an AAC 7.62 SD or Cyclone for it. Should be a sweet setup.

That has got to be the dumbest choice of thread patterns I've seen from a company.

Shouldn't be much trouble at all. It is easier if you take the barrel off and give it to Steve Baldwin in Jones, OK or Curtis Higgins at S&H (Owasso I think). They'll thread it up for you. You'll likely lose the amount that is currently threaded from the length. It'll be worth it. I think Steve would charge around $75 for the service, but I'm not sure. His business is mechanical accuracy or baldwin sights. Google for his info. He has a website.

He should have the stuff to take it off for you. You should be able to take him the complete upper. I'd prefer just to give him the barrel and do the rest myself.

didnt know you can use a different cal can. thanks

Yeah, a lot of people buy a 7.62 cans for their .308 and 5.56 rifles. Saves them from having to buy two cans and paying the $200 tax stamp twice.

I was happy to get the heavy barrel when I bought my Grendel upper but I didn't think about buying a can for it. I eventually want to buy a can for it and my AR but I guess I may have a problem finding the right threaded can for both.
