Shootsumm's recommendation on the evolution saw was all it took and I had to have one too. 200 bucks is a steal for what your actually getting.
The decision to get It came down to being able to make mitered cuts that came together nicely. That's not something easily done with any other tool I already had

Did anyone else get one?

After playing around with the new welder I thought I'd try my hand at actually making something useful. The cart I bought to go with my MIG did not have a handle to move it around with so I decided to make my own. I used some old 14ga 1" square stock that had a light layer or rust on it. I tried to round all the sharp corners off that my hands would come in contact. After it is painted I'll just bolt it to the cart with some 1/4x20 machine bolts and acorn nuts

Neat approach to adding that handle! Did you cut off the two walls of the lower portions of the square tube stock, or did you weld on some angle iron? How did you make the angled hook - did you miter the corners of two pieces and weld them together, or did you notch one piece and bend it 90 degrees?

And did you do all this work in this weather? I was merely standing in my shop this morning with a big fan going, and I was sweating buckets within 15 minutes!

i just stuck my miller 211 on a tool cabinet. its one of the bottoms, on wheels. the welder fits perfect on it. but there isnt anywhere for the bottle so i have it on a hand truck. lol. its basically a 2man operation to move the rig. one of these days when it cools off and rains a bunch, im gonna weld up a cart.

Yep, I cut off two of the walls with my plasma cutter. I cut it a little thicker then I needed to and then used my grinder to go the rest of the way. The angled hook was two mitered pieces that were welded together. I tapered it so the hose and cable would go in easier. Because I wanted to round off the sharp tip I welded on a piece of 3/4 by .25 flat stock that I could sand down without the material getting too thin.

I started cutting the tubing a couple nights ago but finished up today. Oddly enough I'm accustom to the heat now. I just need to keep reminding myself to keep taking water

I thought about building one but by the time I purchased all the steel and castors I'd of spent more then just buying one for the sub 60 dollars you can get one for. I did not like the one that was 50 dollars more and had a handle so I decided do that part myself. It's painted now and I'm getting ready to go out there and bolt it on and see ho much easier it is to tug it around my small shop

Heres some pix of the final product. so far I'm very please on how it turned out. it looks (at least to me) like it belongs there and is VERY sturdy. Ive also included a closeup in the rounded off hook

Looks great! I thought about trying to modify a factory cart for my Miller, but since I want to stack my welder and cutter on the same cart, I'll be welding up a new one. I have all the material and caster wheels from a project that never got started - now if only the weather would cooperate! Trying to weld something with sweat rolling into my eyes isn't my idea of a good time :P

We need to get you outside more often, it really isn't that bad out. I was outside for over 12 hours yesterday, a fan helps....

I probably should de-acclimate myself from the A/C :P I spent about five hours outside yesterday, mostly early in the morning, but it was still pretty warm and humid even with a 42" shop fan blowing directly at me. My all-metal shop seems to concentrate the heat; I wonder if installing a vent fan in an end wall under the peak of the roof would help?
