I'm running a 7" with a Noveske pig /pistol length gas and heavy buffer with a full auto carrier... its eats anything i load in it from wolf to tap 55 to 77 grain at moment of tennis ball around 100 yards. if i could do it all again i would go 10.5" as that seems to be the cut off for suppressor warranties. If your going to SBR it to be a fire breathing ridiculous toy just because you can- go 7" if your looking to make it "practical" and bit more tame- go 10.5"

The shorter the barrel the more blast your skull will have to tolerate.
I have a 9.25" upper and I won't shoot it without either a Noveske Flaming Pig or a suppressor.
A bare muzzle guarantee's me a headache after less than 1 mag.
You can call me a sissy but I want to hear my grandchildren. :-)

Agree with the posts above that all the cans I know of have the warranty cutoff around 10.5".
I still shoot my suppressors on the 9.25" barrel but I understand that the blast baffle will erode much faster especially with
rapid or full auto fire.

Edited to add that I initially built up a 11.5" upper and it was very handy and surprisingly had less annoying concussive blast. Wanted a shorter barrel and figured out quick that I didn't gain much except a bigger fireball and more ringing with less FPS.

Remember you are not limited to 5.56 in an AR. I just built an 8" barreled AR in 300 AAC Blackout. With my 762SD can it is a fun, quiet and accurate little gun.
