Presented a firearm that had everything you were looking for, would the fact that it was rattle-can painted by the previous owner affect your decision to purchase it and would it reduce what you felt was a fair purchase price?

depends - if I don't like the paint color, scheme, quality, whatever - then yes it would. I would have to have to get it for a great deal as I would have to either strip it myself or have somebody like Traxxis do it.

If the price was already "fair" enough that it wasn't unreasonable and at least close if not in line with what I would be willing to pay I may still counter offer a little under but wouldn't be a make or break the deal situation.

Many of the rattle can jobs I've seen look terribly worn and junkie due to use. It always gives me the impression it wasn't well maintained and cleaned. Just the way I see it.

painted guns unless it's a factory and/or professional finish reduces value for me.
future value has a disproportional influence on my buying decision.

regardless of how much I like the paint, come time for me to sell it. odds are getting most of my $$$ back is reduced. unless price is compensated for that potential loss up front.

Rattlecan paint jobs makes me worry about how "southern engineered" the rest of the gun may be. If you didnt bother to take the gun to be cerekoted or professionally "painted" it makes me wonder what else you may have used duct tape and superglue logic on.
