Man I hate hanging out on Garage Journal, I didn't even know I needed one of these...

How is that different from a belt sander? I have one of the latter with 6" wide belts, and it's great for removing material evenly. I use it all the time to put bevels on the edges of steel material to be welded.

I've got a 6x48, and a 9" disc on it, takes up alot of space in my small shop, I can run the smaller belt with it's optional disc attachment on an existing bench grinder in less than 1/2 the space, winning...

Well, if you'd quit jamming all those CL finds into your shop, you might have more room for the bigger toys :wink2:

Picked up two 40CF tanks this morning off of CL for $75. The internet is great, did a little research before I went to determine how to know if the are "owned" or "rented" and when they were last tested. Both tanks checked out good. I used my newly acquired info to determine the large tank and welder I have been watching at a nearby pawnshop is actually a rented tank, has the companies name around the ring, wonder how that should be handled....

Ask the pawn shop if the guy that pawned it had a receipt for the tank. I own my tanks, bought from Airgas and they have Airgas markings. Refills are a tank exchange and you never know what you will get. If I ever sell them I'll have to give the new owner my receipt as it is the only proof that the tanks are not rented.

What size is the rented tank? From what I have learned the collar ring does not mean much on smaller tanks since they are almost exclusively owned. When I bought mine from airgas I looked at the tanks in the bay and lots of them had other company names on them
