Had it happen once to me. My buddies and I were playing some night time paintball on some property one of them had. There were only 4 of us, 2 per team. My partner and I knew the property good enough that we figured they'd try and flank us on one side of a creek that was in there. So, we decided to seperate and go to opposing sides of the property, meet up in their "base" and attack them from behind. Well, I was waiting at their "base" for my partner, which was also next to the creek. It was dead quiet, no wind, no movement of any kind, and I hear footsteps in the water in the creek. I arrange myself so I can see down it for a pretty good distance. The sound stopped, no wripples in the water. I watched a little longer and heard the sound again. VERY distinct sound of someone walking through water! At the time of the sound, there were no wripples or people in the water! A few seconds later, my partner walked up behind me and said he never went close to the creek! I freaked out and said "let's get the f*** outta here." The other two guys were also dry when we met up with them, so they hadn't been in the water. That's the most freaked out I've ever been!

I half woke up in the middle of the night, and swore I saw someone standing in my doorway. I didnt freak out though, for some weird reason. It happened again, and this time I got up. My pregnant wife said she never left the bed. Next morning at work, I got a call from my mom, who had just found my dad's body.

This one ties into the post above mine. That night, after getting some things squared away, I called my dad's best friend. They hadnt talked in a while, but knew before I said anything why I was calling. The night before, he had a dream my dad had passed and he made it to the church but couldnt get in, the church was locked. He said the dream spooked him. He was trying to get on the next flight down from Alaska. The airports were closed due to snowstorms (this was in January), and he couldnt get down before the funeral.

I tend to sleep on my stomach at night. There were a few nights when I was a kid while living at home, where I'd wake up into that half sleep/half awake state in the middle of the night and feel a pressure pushing down on my back, as if someone was holding me down. When I'd try to turn over onto my back, I was physically unable to do so. When I would try to call out to my parents, I wouldn't be able to make any vocalizations at all. This happened a few times over a number of years, but not terribly frequently. Flash forward to college.

One night in the dorms at OU, I was asleep in my room and woke up into that half sleep/half awake state. I was laying on my back and absolutely, unable to move my body physically, as if I had been placed into some kind of a trance hold. I started to hear growling, not like a dog, but more like a demonic growl. I had just recently converted to Catholicism and did the only thing I could think to do - I started saying Hail Mary's. Next thing I remember, my eyelids started fluttering very rapidly and I saw a vision of the Virgin in the air above my bed. She never moved or said anything, but she appeared to be praying, with her hands together and head slightly bowed down. Once she appeared, the growling got louder, as if there was a struggle occurring. I don't know how long this all lasted, but it felt like just a few minutes. Then, the growling stopped, my eyes stopped fluttering, the vision disappeared and I was WIDE awake laying in my bed. I can't really describe the feeling I had throughout my body as I laid there afterwards - it was just like an absolute release, like maybe you'd get after an extreme physical effort and now you're resting on the sideline. Not a feeling of tiredness, but just recovery.

I had a roomate and he was asleep the whole time.

I had a very similar experience while I was in college - same half-awake, half-asleep state, feelings of dread, inability to move or speak - though I could "hear" myself struggling to speak. My roommate was gone for the weekend and I had a distinct feeling that someone was watching me from just out of my field of view. When the feeling ended I shot straight up wide awake. I was told it is a not uncommon event - basically I was caught half-way between being asleep and being awake with sleep paralysis still in effect my conscious mind not quite released and my sub-conscious still mostly in charge.

I have no comment on the other aspects of your experience - I have no way to judge what you subjectively felt or perceived. I am not disparaging what you said or saying it couldn't have been. I only related my story to give you another possible explanation.

I got that weird feeling by just reading some of these stories; Definitely an interesting thread.

One day during work i got a text from my girlfriend saying that she left her wallet in my car. This wasn't pleasant to hear considering she lives in Fort Gibson and works
in Tulsa. We decided to meet at the gas station/mcdonalds between OKC and Tulsa after i got off work at five. So we meet there around six and she was hungry so i took her to eat at a mexican resturaunt in Stroud. After eating i took her back to the gas station so she could get her car and head home.

I always put a dip in after i eat, always. When your body needs to get rid of waste and you put a dip in, it just makes it worse. So i went into the gas station to relieve myself. As i walked into the bathroom i noticed two decent sized midle aged men just standing there. I just kind of stopped for a second because this was kind of weird. They were facing eachother when i walked in and just stared at me. I walk by them and went into a stall. One of them kept pushing the air hand drying thing over and over and i could faintly hear them talking and got that weird feeling that something wasn't right. After a few minutes the hand dryer went off and there was silence, but i didnt hear the door close.

All of the sudden out of no where one of them drop kicks the stall door that i am in. My heart jumped into my throat and i went from that weird feeling to FOF mode and pulled out my gerber and started thinking about where i needed to stab one of them to put him down so i could get to the next. After the drop kick happened it went silent again. But about 20-30 seconds later one of them drop kicked the door again. He kicked it hard, i don't know how it didn't fly open. By now i stand up ready to stab whoever was at the door (hadn't wiped yet haha). I don't know if one of them was looking over the stall or saw through the cracks in the stall that i had a knife or what. I heard the door shut. I sat down finished my business (knife on my lap) and walked out of the stall and was relieved to see that they both were gone.

I once had to travel to Tucson AZ for work. The stay was for 3 or 4 days, and I had reserved a room at a nice older style hotel. The hotel layout was the type where you entered your room from the exterior.
My room was a second story room, accessed from the rear of the building, and not visible from the parking lot. (no visibility to anything)
Small-flags started going off, but it was morning with plenty of light - and everything looked fine. I shrugged it off.

After work that day when I returned to the hotel room (darker) - HOLY COW, my spider sense went off.
The pathway was lighted, but it was still dim (nighttime). I had to walk to the rear of the building to get to the room, with only one way in and out.
I didn't feel someone watching me or anything like that, but I had that feeling that 'something' wasn't right. I couldn't shake the feeling.
I even pushed some furniture to block the door. (it was intense) I think around 9-10pm, I packed my crap up and told the hotel office I had to change rooms.

I changed to another room that had better lighting, visibility, and access.
Nothing happened that night, ...but wow. It freaked me out.

When the spidey-sense goes off, ...it's telling you something - so take notice and listen.
I like to think that because I 'listened' to my gut feeling, I'm here now. ....to bore you with my story.
Oh, and I told my wife the story and said "you told me this long story, and NOTHING happened?!?!?" Yea, she laughed at me.
Hahaha. Not the first or last time I'll be laughed at.
