I am thinking about building a suppressor on a form 1 like I did with my SBR. I have a few questions if any of you have studies this. I know I cannot make it multi caliber with interchangeable internals. But can I make replacement parts for it if something like a baffle strike happened? can I make it where it can be disassembled for cleaning? Have any of you done this and what was your results with the can?

You would have to destroy the damaged parts before making the replacement parts. No problem making it so that it can be disassembled, just can't have any extra parts.

The form 1 allows you to build one suppressor. Any extra parts or different caliber internals would not be legal as those parts would be considered seperate suppressors in and of themselves.

You can make your own replacement parts? I always though a licensed manufacturer had to do it for you. I've never done this before so i don't know. Just a quick search in the Q&A about "silencers" and i read:

"A person who is licensed under the Gun Control Act (GCA) to manufacture firearms and who has paid the special (occupational) tax to manufacture National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms may replace a component part or parts of a silencer. ....Persons other than qualified manufacturers may repair silencers, but replacement parts are “silencers” as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(24) that must be registered and transferred in accordance with the NFA and GCA."

Does that only apply for form 4 cans?

Since you filed a Form 1 to manufacture a suppressor you are allowed to make all of the parts to make that one suppressor, but nothing extra. If you damaged a part and destroyed it, then "technically" you have not made your one can. It is kind of a gray area where what you posted is correct (about licensed manufacturers only making replacement parts), but ATF does not care if you have replaced a part that was damaged as long as you have no extra parts and the parts you are making are only for your single Form 1 suppressor. In all reality, how would they even know if you did replace a part?
