I've been riding the fence on getting a suppressor and decided that I'm going to be getting one come... lets say sept, oct time frame ;-). So my thinking has been to get a dedicated .22 can since that's what I plan to shoot the vast majority of the time. And then maybe in the future get a 7.62 can to serve the .308 and .223 shooting if I decide to go that road. But I've also considered getting just a .223 can to serve for both purposes after shooting another gentleman's ruger with a .223 can (I would also probably consolidate calibers). It was heavy but very effective.

My question is, do any of you ever shoot your .223 cans on your .22? Is there a sound reduction difference between say, an as sparrow and a decent .223 can?

Interesting. What would be the logic behind that?

.22LR is a low presure round, but it is very dirty and will lead up your can after a while. When you shoot a high pressure .223 round thru a leaded up can you risk rupturing the can or dislodging some of the lead and getting a baffle strike. Most .22LR cans can be taken apart to get the lead out (or you can send the sealed ones back to the mfr. for a rebuild), but most .223 cans are sealed.

if your thinking multi can use, think AAC tirant or some others by liberty. 9mm pistol cans. you can get those that come apart for cleaning...

I use my tac16 for rimfire, but I'm not going back the other way till I take it apart and clean all the lead and crap out of it. Which will probably be never when my SDN-6 gets here :)
