I also ran into this with family members that are voracious hunters. They pretty much are ok with the guns of the 50s and 60s. Winchesters, six guns, 8-10 shot semi auto pistols. I explained the same facts about so-called "assault rifles" and some seemed to get and some did not. It's sad.

They should be fine with AK's (designed late 40's) and AR's (designed late 50's) then.

I think that Sen. Fienstein is shooting for the moon with her draconion plan hoping to "compromise" on some restrictions and get something passed. The problem we are going to have are the hunters and shotgunners who agree with the anti's that we do not "need" these types of "assault" waepons. When their precious guns are are added to the list, maybe then we can stand together.

I agree. I tell my friends who feel like this that as long as we have Crest and Wally World, they do not need to hunt.

My father and I had this discussion over Christmas,(he hunts and fish, has his Auto-5, and a couple of revolvers) but doesn't see or understand the need for AR's, AK's, and such. Logic fails when emotions are involved. Then my Obama loving sister got involved, and at least my dad told her to shut up unless she had something meaningful to say. She got mad an stormed out, not to be seen for the rest of our vacation home. At least my brother is smart an has starting to stock pile guns, ammo, food an water. My dad seems to think they won't come after his guns. I couldn't sway him otherwise. Christmas sucked this year, we are staying home next one.

The facts are, only 4% of the gun deaths occur with a rifle of any type. Probably 2% of those are law enforcement shooting bad guys with their dept. issued AR. So they are going after the 2%? 96% of gun deaths are done with a pistol.
You have to ask yourselves what their real motive is here.

You are correct but the facts are irrelevant to their cause. I didn't think Obama could be a candidate much less win in '08the or again last election. I didn't think Obama care would pass or be upheld by SC. But all these came to pass. If we don't take this threat to our liberty serious we and the future generations will regret it.

I wonder how this will effect LEO's?

If they do like they did last time, AR's and magazines with a capacity over 10 rounds will be stamped "For Law Enforcement or Military Use Only". You will have to provide a commission card before you can purchase. During the 94 ban, it was a felony to possess either if you were not a commissioned officer.
