What makes people seek out PMags over standard GI mags with Magpul followers?

I prefer GI mags myself because I can keep then loaded and I do not have to keep track of that extra cap.

Loaded GI mags put pressure on the lips which can bend, thus making the magazine a fountain of bullets, then a brick. The caps on the PMAGs push down on the top round keeping pressure off the lips.

Poppycock! I have several G.I. magazines that have been fully loaded since 1975.....38 years worth of "tension" on the mag lips and not one has ever bent or fountained. They have been carried, bumped, thrown in gear bags etc...not just sitting around on a shelf. I started with 10 of them fully loaded and every 10 years I take one out and run it through a rifle and not one has ever failed to run all 30 rounds out and these have the old "evil" black followers. P-Mags are way over rated in my opinion.

I'm a fan of G.I. mags also, they've always worked great for me. Not that I have anything against pmags, but why change to something more expensive when what I have works great?

I like 'em both. Throw a bunch of loaded ones into a jumbled box and I'll take whatever comes out to fill my kit with and never look back.

I don't know what it is, but, PMAGS just seem more reliable to me. But I would take just about any AR-15 magazine I could get my hands on at the moment. Would still prefer PMAGS or GI's though.
