You can use them but you have to remember a major bleed is going to keep bleeding so as one pad becomes full of blood you don't remove it and replace it with another you just put a new one over the last one. With flat 4X4 sterile gauze pads it's not a problem stacking them up but sanitary pads are much thicker and not as wide so stacking several on top of each other is going to create an unstable wound packaging. When this happen it's extremely difficult to apply pressure and it will eventually just come apart which can lead to the wound opening up fully again. Trust me, I've done it more times than I can count and you are way ahead using sterile 4X4's.

OK, I'll apologize first. I'm sorry, but got to say it. "pics or it didn't happen."

Sorry, no pics, but if I did, you can believe I'd share! There are plenty of pics if you google it :) My cousin used to have terrible nose bleeds. His mom always kept a stash in her purse just for that reason though. Luckily, he outgrew them.

These have been riding around in my trunk for several weeks. Just in case my daughter decides to have 272 blowout diapers on my way to the store and back.

oh geez! That's a mess of diapers! We cloth diaper, thankfully. I buy a box of diapers for him to wear when he goes to church or going out, but other than that, we rarely have any on hand...
272 blow outs would be a serious SHTF scenario I think :)
