Somebody might have raised that coon for a pet and he got loose, I had a pet coon when I was a kid. As long as he didn't get aggressive I would feed him but that's just me. We have a skunk that eats cat food on our porch and if you walk out the door he runs behind the doghouse....I haven't done anything with him yet.

Yep a lot of people feed the critters including coons.
I have a friend that has had over 15 coons at his front door at a time.
One actually walked up to the door and started smacking on it ..Glass storm door with the big wood door open.
He was a little late for feeding them. So i guess they knocked to see if he was home.

They have been feeding them for 20 years 2 geese come visit every year to the same place. and turkeys get fed also.

Every knight the coons will be there for dinner scraps and dog food.
They do not own any cats or dogs. they live on 20 acres.

Could be a coon that was treated like that.

When I lived in the country, we had possums that would show up each night and eat the cat food. Occasionally the cats wouldn't leave any food and a couple possums would climb up to the window sills of the living room and scratch the glass to let us know they didn't have any food. We'd go put some out and they would eat their fill and leave until the next night.

I haven't seen the raccoon again but I assume he's still around.
