For you Kimber haters, how much actual experience do you have with their guns and what, specifically, do you dislike? Serious and legit question, not trying to be a smart ass.

I don't hate mine (the one I kept). In fact, I want to love it. But as I mentioned above, my Crimson Pro Carry II gave me trouble when I used it at a match. When S4F talks about slapping the slide back, he was probably remembering me! Of course I wasn't grabbing my junk at the time, so maybe he gets around more than I thought. I did however, end up with a bruised left palm from banging the slide the last 1/4" to get it all the way into battery.

That pistol is $1000. That's ridiculous. A gun that expensive needs to run. Period.

It's a gorgeous gun, extremely accurate. It carries well, etc.

I haven't given up on it; maybe it needs more "break in", but frankly I think that's silly too.

My next 1911 wasn't a Kimber.

I have only ever owned three. No, four. A Springfield many years ago, a 1943 Colt GI model, a mostly Remington-Rand on an Essex frame, and something from Spain that I can't remember. They all went bang. The Remington-Rand is my favorite. Pinkhammer built it.

Fail to eject, fail to feed, fail to go into battery, fail to go bang, fail to complete a simple steel challenge match. That was my experience and with much more anecdotal evidence I know that my experience is not isolated or uncommon. There are better choices for less money.

The only 1911 I have owned that I would not purchase again would be the Llama. Can't really remember why I hated it so much as it was 20 or so years ago since I threw it off a bridge because I swore I couldn't sell it to someone and feel right about the deal.

I'll put my Kimber into a 1000 round shoot off with anybody. Personal choice of ammo.

I'll make it easy on anybody. Looser buys me a cold beer.

Are you really willing to bet that a single stack 1911 will take 100+ consecutive speed reloads and will seat the magazine all the way every time?
