Form 1 is used for people or non-FFL/SOT entities (trust/LLC/etc) that want to make/manufacture their own SBR, SBS, or suppressor not for dealers who are selling NFA items made by others. If you are wanting to make your own SBR or suppressor, you can file a Form 1 but need a trust or LLC to use eForms. If you are wanting to buy an already made NFA item from a local dealer then you are stuck using paper Form 4 as they are not available on eForms and probably won't be until towards the end of the year.

Oh... well that sucks. You'd think that the form used the most would be what they have on eForms...

The most used form's are on eForms, ATF Form 2, Notice of Firearm Manufactured or Imported. You are looking at roughly four months on a paper Form 4, which is a 1/3 of the time my first one took just last year.

I'm learning something new everyday here. I don't have any NFA stuff, and am just now getting into it. My dad and I will be purchasing suppressors soon so I've been trying to learn as much as I can. Definetly going the NFA trust route.

Winton Law in Edmond is your ticket. Solid trust document and he's a good guy. Plus it's only $200 and can't really be any easier of a process through them.

Thanks, I'd seen them recommended before on here and have made a note. How does the trust thing work for multiple people? My dad plans on setting it up with him, mom, my wife and myself. Can any of us take the suppressor out as long as we have the paperwork for it? Or does the primary person always have to be there?

So since the e filing page requires IE8 to run properly and everyone not using smoke signals to get onto the internet uses the unsupported IE11, how do you guys manage this? Do you just neuter your computer's browsing ability or do you go a rural county library?

Sorry, didn't see your question last night.

You have two types of Trustee: The Initial Trustee and the Successor Trustee. Your Dad would be the Grantor and one of the Initial Trustees. Initial Trustees are those who can possess the items independent of other Trustees. Successor Trustees are just those who act when the Initial Trustees can no longer act on behalf of the Trust (death, etc.) You can also name your Beneficiaries.

Check out the pdf worksheet on Winton's website. They answer the "how many" question for each type of trustee there.
