I submitted a Form 1 last week, and will be building my first suppressor as soon as I get approval. I'm planning on getting a 10/22 TD and a .22 RAR as rifle hosts, but can't decide on a pistol. Right now I'm thinking it's between a 22/45 and SR22. Anyone here with a suppressed .22 have any advice?

1 vote for the Ruger 22/45. Mine is a a 22/45 Target that has a threaded bull barrel and a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite upper. This thing runs like a champ, even on subsonic ammo.

That's a nice looking set up. I'd really like to get the threaded barrel 22/45 with the top and bottom picatinny rail, but can't find one that also has iron sights.

Just found a Walther PPQ .22 w/ threaded barrel. If it didn't have low profile sights, I'd probably go with one of those.

A possible option for the sights? Not sure if it's compatible with threaded barrels, or how it would work if it is.

If you can live without the bottom rail some 22/45 Lite models come with iron sights and a Weaver top rail in the box.

I second the 22/45. It is a reliable platform that has been around since 1949 (considering the Standard, MKIII and MKIII), it is rugged and reliable, and there are a multitude of parts and upgrades available. I have a 22/45 Lite that comes threaded, and I use a set of VZ grips on it taken off a 1911 where I just had to round one corner. One thing I would change is to replace the loaded chamber indicator, it is a magnet for grime that is probably worse with a suppressor.

Nice!

What is the trigger like on the newer 22/45s?
