I am waiting on the e-file form 1 that I submitted at the beginning of the month. I have a Sig P516 with a 10.5" barrel, and I want to put a standard Magpul stock on it. Do I need to have it engraved with my trust and location since it was originally designated as a pistol? If so, I will go to Southwest Engravers before making any changes to convert it to an SBR.
Considering the same thing, and wasn't sure about the engraving either. Hopefully someone will offer some insight.

Yes, you are the "Maker/Manufacturere" of the SBR by converting it - Full trust name, city, state (state abbreviation is okay), caliber is required to be engraved. ATF regs have specific on size/depth of font.

If you were to have purchased an SBR on a form 4 vice made it on a form 1, then you would not have to have it done. Make sure you do not "make" the SBR before the ATF has given you permission. :crying:

I went down to Southwest Engraving today. It took 10-15 minutes from start to finish, and I like how it turned out. I might paint the area so it blends in better, but not today. She only charged $15, so you cannot beat the price. Their hours are 9:30-5:00 M-F and closed from 2:00-3:00 for lunch, so check your watch before you start driving.
