Anyone use Silicone on rimfire baffles?

Stumbling about on the 'net in anticipation of receiving a couple suppressors, I came across this site http://www.rrdvegas.com/silencer-cleaning.html which advocates warming suppressor parts to 250F, immersing in silicone (DOT 5 brake fluid), allowing to cool then reassembling. It more or less prevented the fouling from attaching itself to parts and dramatically reduced cleanup time.

Any experience or opinions?

I haven't heard about using this. I have a brake on my Ruger Mark III for steel challenge that gets crudded up really bad. Had to bead blast it the last time it was cleaned. I smeared axle grease all over the inside before putting it back on. Wouldn't want to be next to me on the first shot. lol.
Have not taken it back off to see if it cleans up better yet as the build up is not as severe. Don't know why.

Super Lube will do the same thing and you don't have to pre heat.

It is a dry silicone spray. I get it at Home Depot.

Thanks, I'd wondered if my can of aerosol silicone spray would work if I set the pieces out on newsprint on a hot day, sprayed and let them sit for a while. Hope to have cans in hand by May. Should be interesting.

How does it smell when the can gets hot from shooting? Burn off much?
