10/22 Sbr

You may have noticed I'm the new owner of 10/22 receiver thanks to carready. Woot Woot!

I think NFA is the only way to go. I want to do it up right!


Any suggestions or links to pics of 10/22 SBRs?



Josh-L and CAR-AR-M16 both gave good suggestions on the "locked" thread. Josh recommended a setup that sounds very similar to my other 10/22 that is black. I also like CAR's recommendation to SBR it with a short fat one.


What would this look like?

9in heavy barrel like the pics in the other thread
---have it fluted (because fluting makes me tingle)
---coat it in FDE
side folding stock w/the metal folding arm
---coat the metal of the stock in FDE
factory receiver coated in, you guessed it, FDE

I do not know anything about the 10/22, but that would be very kool as a SBR!!!

I wanted to build a short 10/22 until I shot one with a 5 inch barrel and my warlock. I was not impressed with the sound. It had a significant pop from the ejection port. It reminded me of a suppressed Beretta 21 except the ejection port was only a few inches from my ear. It's weird because my 5 inch rimfire AR upper is much quieter with the same can.

It was a cool little gun and I was really disappointed with how it sounded because I wanted to build my own.

If I ever get another 10/22, I will have MAS, John Norrell, or Curtis Higgins build an integral can for it.

I've never been too interested in the integral stuff, but I will put it on the list of potentials.

I've always thought these barrels would look cool in SBR config:

And if you're looking at a side-folding stock, keep in mind that there are quite a few to choose from now (the Evolution by RB Precision isn't the only game in town anymore).

That's what I'm wanting to do to my 10/22 after I finish my SBR AR. Mine'll have a Butler Creek side folder, haven't decided on barrel length, but it'll be short. And the barrel will be one of those Green Mountain aero barrels.

Screw SBRing it.... Benson has a full auto kit for it in stock!!!!!!!!!



Seriously though I really haven't seen that many cool "shorty" 10/22's that I can remember. I think stock options might limit you.

With a 9 inch HDF barrel it might be pretty cool. Stock doesn't fold though.
