Right it's goofy rules that could get you introuble for doing nothing.

Back on track how do you go about getting the measurements and ect for the form 1

Another question just popped into my head, since you can temporarily modify the fire arm are you allowed to build a second upper in say a different caliber and hot swap them on the same sbr lower?

Measure the length from the end of your fully extended buttstock to where the muzzle of the barrel would be in sbr configuration. Remember barrel measurement is from bolt face to muzzle.

Yes. Easy answer, if you have already submitted the form 1, is to retain possession of the upper as described. As long as it is a non permanent alteration; like an upper swap, and you can return the sbr to its stamped configuration it is GTG.
One of my form 1s listed multiple calibers to avoid this.

I was thinking of getting a pap m92 ak pistol and later adding a stock to it. I found a folding stock that you attach in a similar manner to the arm braces. A lot easier than having someone drill out the truniuon and attaching the stock. I was gonna put a brace on it first until I get the tax stamp back. Can I order the stock now? I wouldn't attach it until get the stamp back of course. Just have the extra money right now to go ahead and get the stock.

If you want the stock now, just have someone else store it for you at their house till you get all your paperwork done.

Don't know what you mean by "hot swap" but you can have multiple uppers in different lengths and/or calibers.

I think UMB got my latest question answered. As to hot swapping, switch out on the fly, like bring the rifle to the range and be able to shoot two different calibers from it with in a few minutes. It's just phrasing I have always heard//used

Yup. Best solution with SBR, IMNSHO. All kinds of options with a single SBR lower! :D
