I decided to have a me day and the m in me stands for Mosin. Nice day here in OK so I broke the gun down completely (every part) cleaned the cos with mineral spirits and oiled. Was going to do a vid but I have a rule when I play golf to never give lessons to anyone I can't beat and that goes with the savvy people on this site. Preaching to the choir deal.
One thing I will add, to stop flash rusting (learned from my AK's), I sprayed everything down with Ballistol after the mineral spirits and wipe down. Left it very wet when I put up. Some hate the product but I love it. Barrel got a great scrub/oil and looks great.
This is the M91/30 1937 Izhevsk. Not a rare one but it's in great shape. Furniture is perfect as well as not having any scratches on the barrel.
It took me 5 hours because I wanted to make sure not to damage anything. Tons of respect equal time a patience.
I am amazed at the beauty and simplicity of this piece of history. Can't wait for my next one
