NFA Engraving - Huntington Fine Jewelers

Sorry if this is in the wrong location, wasn't sure exactly where something like this should go so I took my best guess!

Just wanted to give other local stamp collectors another option for getting Form1/Trust information engraved. I'm now on my third SBR project with engraving done by Jeff over at Huntington Fine Jewelers over on South Western in OKC. He's a gun guy himself and very very skilled with the super fancy engraver they have there. I'm not sure the exact details of the machine but it's apparently the only one in the State if I understood correctly and can be configured to engrave just about anything anywhere on any object. So far he's handled a typical AR lower magazine well, the unusual curved surface of an MP5 clone and is currently doing a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 for me (Forged Aluminum, Sheet Steel, and Plastic!). He's able to match font and text size of factory engraving rather closely with very precise centering wherever you decide to place your information.

I know a lot of folks may not want to pay the extra for "pretty" engraving since something cheaper would be just as effective but I wanted it to look good. I'm gonna have these for a long time so might as well go all out I figure. Turn around time so far has been about 2 weeks but it can be shorter depending on how busy he is. He also saves your engraving as a "logo" in the computer that controls the engraver so future projects are both faster and cheaper since he's already got the settings in there.

So it would help if you'd let us know something about pricing... I mean, if it's $20-30 that's one thing, but if it's gonna cost $100 or more, that's something people should know - if nothing else, so they don't bother this highly-paid artisan wasting tons of his time just to get quotes that are going to shock them and make them go elsewhere. He might not like getting 50 requests for a quote every week, so some idea of pricerange might be useful.

Good point, I should have listed my cost to give people an idea of how much it's gonna run.

My AR15 lower and MP5 were done for a total of $130, so roughly $65 each including designing my trust "logo". My most recent work on the CZ Scorpion was $50 including an enamel fill on the text.

Yeah pretty much. You get a hand receipt and he gives you a call when it's all done. The focus there is of course Jewelry and keepsake engraving , so guns can take a little longer. I wasn't too worried because I was already waiting months for the stamp to come through anyway.

You mean per this rule:
If the applicant on the Form 1 lacks the skill, ability, and/or equipment to manufacture the NFA firearm, the applicant, after receipt of the approved Form 1, can have the firearm created or modified at a premises other than shown on the approved Form 1 as long as the creation or modification was done under the direct oversight of the applicant, thus having the applicant retain custody and control of the firearm. If the location is outside the applicant’s State and the firearm being made is a short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, destructive device, or an unserviceable machinegun which is being reactivated, the applicant will also need to request permission to transport the firearm interstate as required by 27 CFR 478.28.

Don't have to worry until you attach a stock to it, and even then, it isn't an SBR until it has a stock and an upper. If you have a stripped lower or a pistol lower, you can leave it with whomever while awaiting your stamp - unless they are prohibited, a felon, etc. Once your stamp is approved, I don't know... that would seem to be a gray area. But if you take a stripped lower or a pistol lower to someone, it's not any different than having any other firearm engraved.
