Got my SOT back from the ATF today, so now I can do all the fun stuff, like make and sell SBRs/SBSs, and suppressors, or even buy suppressors on the spot, or order online and start shooting them the next day!!! Might even turn a couple of my 10/22s, G17s and Saiga 12s into full-auto fun guns!
Ahhh.... I really feel like the world is my oyster today, and just thought I'd share this new found excitement with you guys!

Take Care,
Mike

Hate to burst your balloon but it don't work that way. You need to read all the rules and regulations before starting.
All guns /suppressors have to be transfered just like an individual except no tax dealer to dealer. If you buy it off an individual, tax payment is required.
If you build a full auto you can only sell it to another class 3 dealer (not likely) or keep it as long as you pay the yearly SOT. When you go out of business
gun must be sold to another class3 (not likely) turned over to BATFE or destroyed.

When you build a gun or suppressor a form has to be immediately filled out an submitted so that it can be placed in the registry. otherwise its an unregistered nfa item and jail time can be involved.
Read the rules completely, call BATFE for guidance, talk to other long time manufacturers, some will give you good advise.

Hey Fellas,
Thanks for the heads up, and for the record...
I am working closely with my ATF agent, and another that's an NFA Specialist and I assure you I would not jeopardize my freedom or FFL by doing anything illegal. Also, I was talking about dealer demo supprrssors that would be owned by the company and not me personally, as well as transfer weapons from my name to The Company's books prior to turning them into machine guns.
And Jack I don't know what you mean by "plain Jane FFL" as they are all nothing more than putting a check mark next to the one you are seeking, but mine is 07 Manufacturer, meaning that I can now legally manufacture the aforementioned items, but I'd be interested to hear what kind of latitude I don't have.
Also I am fully aware of my making and filing requirements and hope that I did not insinuate otherwise. And yes "next day" was a reach but obviously, I wouldn't be waiting nearly as long as I will for my own personal items.

Take Care,
Mike

Ok Jack thanks. Though I've been building AR and 10/22 rifles for some time now, I'm still in my FFL infancy and have a lot to learn, thank God my ATF agent (prior ffl who now owns several suppressors and sbrs) doesn't mind me pestering him all the time. Lol

Hey gfer,
So basically, a manufacturer with SOT can make machine guns and can sell them to other SOT Dealers, so long as they have a letter from a law enforcement agency requesting a demo of said machine guns. After the FFL/SOT expire, the mg must be sold to an authorized dealer, sent to the AFT or destroyed. From my understanding, a pre-86 machine gun can be legally kept (with paperwork of course) after ffl/sot expire or even transferred to a non-licensee... meaning Joe Shmoe down the street, and for that reason are very expensive!
