Do you guys believe that if Hilary Clinton gets the presidency she will ban imports on 7.62x39 ammo? The reason why I am asking is because I am considering investing into an Arsenal AKM SAM7 but I am afraid of a ban on 7.62x39.
I'm sure someone will pick up slack here. I just built an ar pistol in 7.62 x 39.
It's possible for an import ban but there is US made ammo. But it would get really expensive due to LIMITED quanities. This election is part of the reason I ditched my AK stuff.
I guess I don't understand; there is ammo available now, and is inexpensive. Add a case here and a case there until you build up enough that you don't worry about it. Is it that you just don't have anywhere to store it, or only want to buy a couple of boxes before you take the rifle out?
If avoiding certain firearms because of possible politics, then I'd stick to bolt actions and select shotguns, as even domestic semi-autos are in danger of mag bans and even prohibition. Buy that Arsenal, lay in a few cases of ammo, and enjoy it.
I can see that cheap surplus steel 7.62×39 going out like 7n6. But when they tried that on m855, there was so many people contacting local representives and causing a stir about it, I see popular domestic cartridges like 223/556/300blk/308 being harder to "ban". (But not impossible)
If this is not part of a collection of calibers and he only has or wants one rifle platform, he probably wants readily available ammo for the next decade or so. I'm not saying 762x39 will disappear but it seems like it'd be easier to ban in the US than more common rounds.
This is just my opinion and it may be wrong.
