OK, October/Fall is upon us.

I don't know about everyone else, but I try to rotate the gas stock twice a year.

Once in the fall and once in the spring.

Poured the last of it into the truck this morning and hit the gas station to refill the "cans".

Just a reminder to anyone who sets back some gas for their gennies for the upcoming winter storm season.

Good post.

I don't recommend this but thought I would pass it along. I had treated my motorcycle with a stiff dose of Sta-Bil right before the battery died. Life, work and lack of interest caused it to set in my garage for about 5 years. I got some time and decided to get it fired up and running again. So I dumped the tank (yes it was rank), put in fresh, installed a fresh battery and cranked it up. I thought for sure the carbs would be screwed but twas not the case. She runs just like she always did. I have no doubt that the Sta-Bil in the fuel kept them from gumming all to hell and back. I run it in everything but my cars now.

Rotating every 6 months is a good plan if you keep your gas stored outside in a shed. If it's in a more temp stable and cooler place like a garage 1 year is good. Note: that is treated with Sta-Bil, if it's not treated 3 months is all I'll go.

Man I had some stuff in my gas can from earlier this summer that had already gone bad...neithere my push mower nor riding mower would even start with it. I'd never seen it go south that fast. I turned the push mower upside down and it looked like apple cider and was stinky as heck.

Good reminder. I poured mine into the vehicles last week, planning to hit one of the "real gas" stations tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah. Last year I forgot to refill after pouring into the vehicles.

When I need the generator, instead of 4 full cans and a full genny tank, I had about 1/4 tank and one full can.

had to hit the gas station around 11 PM freezing my butt off to make it thru the night!!

I need to run mine. Book says to run under a load every 6 months.
Full tanks build up much less condensation than partially filled tanks.
Summer and fall when I get fresh gas I'll put about a pint in mine, run it until empty and then change the oil (if due) while the engine's warm. Usually just a drop light plugged in to make sure it's putting out juice.
